On December 4, 2020, Dr. Sarawutthi Boonsuk, the deputy director-general of the Department of Health, Miss Thapanee Kiatphaibool, the deputy governor for Tourism Products and Business of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mister Weeraphan Dee-on, the deputy governor of Chiang Mai, Pol. Gen Chanchai Chaokasem, deputy of Chiang Mai Immigration Superintendent, and Mister Phanlop Sae-Chio, the director of Tourism Council of Thailand, as well as representatives from associations in Chiang Mai, honorably attended a campaign named “Travel in Chiang Mai – Safe from COVID-19” that took place at Tha Pae Gate in Mueang district, Chiang Mai. The campaign aimed to build confidence and spread knowledge about new normal lifestyles according to sanitation measures and the SHA standards. At the event, the honorable guests also awarded the SHA certificate to local businesses for more than 50 workplaces (from 667 businesses in total); in order to spread knowledge and guidelines for safety and hygiene standards to local people, tourists, and tourism entrepreneurs through the activities that show the correct way to wash hands and wear a face mask; as well as a seminar to spread knowledge about the SHA standards in order to support Chiang Mai tourism. The event emphasized Thailand’s top-notch performance in public health and build confidence in tourists to be able to confidently travel in Chiang Mai and nearby provinces.
