In the afternoon of February 3, 2021, the sanitation safety standard inspection committee of the Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration (SHA) project led by Dr. Suwanchai Watthanayingcharoenchai, the director-general of the Department of Health, and Miss Thapanee Kiatphaibool, the deputy governor for Tourism Products and Business under the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) had inspected SHA certified entrepreneurs at the Central World, Bangkok.
The committee had inspected 3 types of business in the Central World: 1) department store and shopping center, 2) souvenir shop and other shops, 3) restaurant/diners; all of which are a business type that mainly provides service. The committee inspected each area within the Central World which is a worldwide-known large department store located in the middle of Bangkok that had received the SHA certificate number G0002. They also inspected True Sphere which is a co-working space that also provides telecommunication service that had received the SHA certificate number J0107. Last but not least, they inspected COCA Restaurant which is a famous and old restaurant that had received the SHA certificate number A0100. There are 2 inspection criteria: 1) committee inspection and 2) voice of the customer (VOC), in order to improve workplaces according to the SHA standards and reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The Amazing Thailand Safety & Health Administration (SHA) is a project under the cooperation of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports by TAT and the Ministry of Public Health by the Department of Disease Control of Thailand, Department of Health, and the Health Service Support Department, including government sectors and private sectors involved in the tourism industry. The project aims to help businesses in the tourism industry prepare and improve their workplaces in accordance with the new normal measure, as well as improving tourism industry standards along with the sanitation regulations. The SHA standards are equivalent to a certificate that represents tourism industry entrepreneurs’ readiness in improving their products and services to comply with the sanitation measures, which is a necessary factor in preventing the spread of COVID-19. The core of the SHA standards is the public health measures that will build confidence in customers and service recipients. Nowadays, there are more than 8,056 SHA certified entrepreneurs all over Thailand. The 3 business types that have received the SHA certificate the most are 1. hotel, accommodation, and meeting place, 2. restaurant/diners, and 3. travel agency (data on February 2, 2021).
